Sybil Connolly Vintage Evening Skirt in Sheer Black Linen

A 1960s vintage long evening skirt, in sheer black pleated linen by Irish designer Sybil Connolly.

Connolly was skilled in re-imagining and glamorizing conventional materials without preliminary sketches, working directly on the fabric. Her signature fabrics are made out of fine, solely pleated handkerchief linen and up to 9 yards of Irish linen handkerchiefs were required to build a single yard of fabric. A similar dress was worn by Jacqueline Kennedy.
